A VERY BROKE STUDENT GUIDE: COPENHAGEN

Have you started planning your summer already? Or trying to figure out, where you want to go on vacay? Ever thought about Copenhagen? Let's not lie here, I feel like everyone has thought of going to Copenhagen at some point of their lives. And that is why I am here for. I bring you a fresh student friendly tip top guide to Copenhagen. Yes, I have been in Denmark for some time now, but consider myself as a tourist when going to Copenhagen. I’ve been there done that, so I can tell you what will cost you the least amount of money and what's worth it.

1. Transport? - BIKES!

BIKES BIKES BIKES, I feel like Copenhagen is a capital of bikes and honestly it’s the one thing I actually miss about Denmark. I don’t need to explain that it’s exercise and getting to your place in once. By the way, you don’t need to worry, bike lanes are everywhere and Copenhagen is flat. Very. Flat.
Good, let’s move on to more interesting hot tips.

2. Free walking tours?

As a very broke student I don’t have much money to spend therefore I need to save money anywhere I go (and than spend everything on food). So as a good way to get to know the city/history/interesting facts is going on one of these free walking tours!

3.  A free entrance places?

BOTANICAL GARDEN (Botanisk have)

A lot of greenery in one scenery. Every time I’m in CPH I make sure to go there. It seriously is a beautiful place. Not only the garden, but there is a lovely humid greenhouse with even more plants in it!

I recommend to check their website before going to see what time the greenhouse opens. I didn’t know that the first time, so I sat in front of it for 25 mins just to get in. Apparently I do anything to see plants.

It is for free!

GLYPTOTEKET

This place is really one of a kind. I never been to anything like this. A lot of sculptures. A lot of very different sculptures. And the entrance hall was so so so pretty with fountain and huge palms! More in the picture section.

Hot tip: go on Tuesday, it’s FREE!

RUNDETAARN

One thing I make sure to do in every city is to find a place to look at the city from above. Since Copenhagen is very very flat you have to climb a tower to see the city’s rooftops. I personally can recommend the Rundetaarn. The entrance is just 25 Danish crowns and let me tell you that that’s nothing.

4. Food?

Copenahgen is full of lovely cafes, but since I am broke student and I can't afford paying 60 Danish crowns for coffee. I only went to one food related place.

PAPIRØEN

This multi cultural food hall is awesome. I had my best ever Phad Thai there. The only thing is that is so crowded that you barely find a place to sit. Luckily, you are right next to the sea, so you can sit anywhere along the waterfront.

5. want to go to Sweden?

You can! Just hop on the train to Malmö. It takes around 45 minutes and 80-90 Danish money to get there. I believe that it is very worth it. And you can go to H&M in Sweden! I don’t know why this makes me very excited.
Don't worry about the tickets, you can buy them right before you go. It will cost the same. And also it will cost the same from Sweden, so don't stress about the railways got you covered.

That's the bridge between Denmark and Sweden!

6. some other places worth visiting?

AMAGER STRAND PARK

Really pretty piece of nature in the city. You are practically on a beach. It actually is a beach. Hop on bike, buy some picnic food (mainly beer) and go there. I beg you!

SUPERKILEN

I really need to come back, drink a beer here, take some cool pics and chill.

CHRISTIANIA - just google it, you’ll see. I really have no idea, how to explain this place.

So here you go. Hot tips where to go in Copenhagen money and save your money! Hope you enjoyed this. I wrote this blogpost on Saturday's night, so I am asking myself what is even my life, but I am actually really happy I wrote this down!
Enjoy it!
